Easter

Today, I’d like to put the “Good Friday-Easter Sunday” church tradition to the Bible test and see if it holds up. We are told in scripture to “Prove All Things” and so today, the Good Friday-Easter Sunday tradition will be put on the hot seat.

Modern Christianity, in particular the Sunday worshiping churches, have celebrated and embraced this Easter Sunday tradition “as if it were authentically Christian in origin”- or mandated in scripture. And as usual, but not surprisingly, their whole congregation follows right along subserviently, without questioning any part of it.

It is no secret; especially to those who actually apply the biblical principal of, “Prove All Things”, that Christmas and Easter, are actually of HEATHEN origins. SERIOUSLY!

However, today, we will be dealing with Easter only.

But what does heathen mean?

It refers to one who adheres to the religion of a people or nation- that DOES NOT acknowledge the God of Judaism or Christianity, and is pretty much ignorant to His ways. Easter has its’ roots deeply entrenched in ancient heathen religion. Easter is actually a pagan festival that was celebrated in the honor and worship of heathen gods. But you don’t have to take my word for it- just Google it, or look it up in a good encyclopedia.

Would God approve if we served Him with any form of pagan, god worship? Would He approve of us  celebrating and associating Him with the same customs, rituals, and festivals that the heathen nations celebrated and worshiped their own gods with?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

God sternly warns us,

Jer. 10:1-2 …Thus saith the LORD, LEARN NOT the way of the heathen…

Deu 12:29 “When the LORD your God cuts off from before you THE NATIONS which you go to dispossess…
Deu 12:30 TAKE HEED to yourself that you ARE NOT ensnared to follow them… DO NOT inquire after their gods, saying, ‘HOW did these nations SERVE THEIR GODS? I also will do likewise.’
Deu 12:31 YOU SHALL NOT WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD IN THAT WAY…
Deu 12:32 “Whatever I command you, BE CAREFUL TO OBSERVE IT…

God reserves to Himself the right to specify how He would have us worship Him and to say what is, or isn’t, considered TRUE and ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP! Sadly, most of us aren’t careful to observe what He’s commanded here.

Clearly, God DOES NOT want us to associate Him with, or worship Him with any of the customs which the heathen nations used in the worship and celebration of their own gods. I think this point has been adequately made.

Jesus was once asked for a sign to prove His divinity and He responded by saying,

Mat 12:39 – “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it EXCEPT the sign of the prophet Jonah.
Mat 12:40 – For as Jonah was three days AND three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of man be THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS in the heart of the earth.

Jesus responded by saying that THE ONLY SIGN He would give them, TO PROVE that He was indeed the Son of God, was that He would be buried for three whole days and three whole nights (72 hours) in the heart of the earth, before being resurrected.

This is THE ONLY SIGN Jesus gave that would prove His divinity. The sign of the Prophet Jonah:

Jonah 1:17 – Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish THREE DAYS and THREE NIGHTS.

Now that we have established the exact time Jesus said He’d be in the grave, let us see if this cherished Good Friday-Easter Sunday tradition can be sustained in scripture. The specifics of this tradition are that Christ was crucified on a Friday, which is commonly referred to as “Good Friday”, buried later that evening, and then was resurrected on early Sunday morning.

Now tell me, can anyone in the world possibly get THREE DAYS and THREE NIGHTS from late Friday evening, to early Sunday morning? ABSOLUTELY NOT! It’s impossible! Go ahead and try it yourself!

As you can see, folks, this church tradition of associating Christ with Easter, doesn’t add up when scrutinized with scripture. IT IS NOT BIBLICAL! It has NOTHING to do with legitimate Christianity! It is HEATHEN in origin and DOES NOT belong in the Church of God, and therefore, you won’t find it being taught IN A TRUE CHURCH OF GOD!

I know this may not go down well with some of us, but PLEASE don’t get mad at me. As always, I’m ONLY trying to bring these matters INTO THE LIGHT for your own benefit. You do what you want with it, but at least NOW, you know the truth.

It is only that I bring it up, because, CLEARLY, God doesn’t want us to serve and worship Him in the ways and customs of the heathen. And Easter’s origins are deeply rooted in paganism. He has commanded that we should BE CAREFUL TO OBSERVE IT- meaning, THAT particular command on how NOT to worship Him!

So, as Christians, and as imperfect as we may be, aren’t we obligated to make every possible effort to obey Him?

I know everyone will pretty much agree with that one. But, WHY THEN don’t we COMPLETELY rid ourselves of all THE EASY stuff that displeases God, and allow ourselves to gravitate one step closer to Him?

Is it possible that you might be a Pagan, masquerading as a Christian? The question is not as outrageous as it may appear. Some of you would be surprised, maybe even shocked!

We should celebrate God during his weekly, Holy Sabbaths, and, during his appointed Holy Festivals as he has commanded us to do. Let’s not associate Christ with, or celebrate Him with the pagan festivals of Christmas and Easter.

Friends, a day of reckoning is coming soon. And we will all have to plead our case to Him as clearly shown in the passage of Matthew 7:22-23. The question is, will WE TOO be rejected for disobeying His instructions as those shown in this passage? I pray not!
