1 Corinthians 6:20 – For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Everyone says, “God is in Control”.
EXACTLY!
This is one of those phrases that is constantly being recycled over and over again.
If you are sincerely making a noble effort in living according to the way He instructs us to live and worship Him, then the idea that He is in Control is stupendously GLORIOUS!
Because then, all of His promises such as, Is 54:17, and the like, will APPLY TO YOU.
Otherwise, listen to one of THE PROMISES (and there are plenty) by way of prophecy that this God who is in Control, has made to any who defy His instructions on how to live, love, and worship Him.
For the sake of length, I will paraphrase:
Is 66:16 – The LORD will bring everyone into court. He will use fire and his sword to punish those he finds guilty. HE WILL PUT MANY PEOPLE TO DEATH.
Is 66:17 – “Some people … do what the worship leader tells them to do. They eat THE MEAT OF PIGS and rats. They also eat OTHER THINGS (unclean animals) I HATE. All of those people WILL COME TO A HORRIBLE END,” announces THE LORD. (NIrV)
This God of Love, who is in COMPLETE Control, is also a God of VENGEANCE and will put MANY PEOPLE TO DEATH for defying His instructions when He returns.
In the case above, for WILLFULLY defying His Law of what MAY be eaten, and what MAY NOT.
Lev 11:46 – ‘This is THE LAW of the animals and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,
Lev 11:47 – TO DISTINGUISH between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that MAY BE EATEN and the animal that MAY NOT be eaten.’ ”
The reason is that eating unclean animals DEFILES us (makes us unclean) and CAUSES US to become unholy (Lev. 11:45).
When this happens, the Holy Spirit can’t reside in a defiled house and flees, therefore, rendering us unholy.
That’s why it’s very important to glorify God in our body and spirit.
And for this reason, God promises to destroy us for defiling ourselves whether it be by eating unclean animals, or by other sins like sexual immorality, which also causes defilement.
And Paul says,
1 Cor 6:19 – Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
1 Cor 3:17 – If anyone DEFILES the temple of God, God WILL DESTROY HIM. For the temple of God is holy, which temple YOU ARE.
God would never destroy a house that is occupied by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit in us IS what makes us holy. That’s why we are told to glorify God in body and spirit.
So INDEED, God is in control. But whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, totally depends on us.
