There are many references to healing scriptures in the bible.
Healing scriptures are some of the most sought after in the bible. They inspire and give people hope, especially to those who are going through a health crises and are in a time of dire need.
The truth of the matter, is that God healed and Jesus healed. And they still do. And speaking of Jesus, the bible says that by his stripes, we were healed (1 Peter 2:24). So by His stripes we are healed. But, we must have faith. We are healed by faith in what God’s Word promises and says.
The bible says that:
- Jesus healed the sick
- Jesus healed the blind
- Jesus healed lepers
- Jesus healed on the Sabbath
- Jesus healed the lame
- Jesus healed the deaf
- Jesus healed many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits
My Christian brethren, Jesus, our healer, still heals! I am sure there is a Sabbath Church near you that is not only in tune with God’s truths, but is also healing in the name of Jesus. Find and join one.
Here are a few references of healing scriptures in the bible:
- Luke 7:22 – Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.
- Matthew 8:17 – that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND BORE OUR SICKNESSES.”
- Luke 5:15 – However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities.
- Mark 1:34 – Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.
There are plenty of healing verses found in the bible that give reference to Christ healing the sick during his time. But what about us today? How can we be healed? Are there healing scriptures in the bible that we can use and apply to ourselves and our loved ones today?
Yes!
There are four main questions being asked today about divine healing and God’s will to heal:
- Can God heal?
- Will God heal me?
- How can God heal me?
- Why does God heal some and not others?
First, and foremost, God can heal, and still does today. The only way God couldn’t heal, is if he didn’t exist. But God does exist! Therefore, God can heal and does. The bible makes it absolutely clear that God has healed in the past, and that God does heal today- according to His will.
Will God heal me- or will God heal you?
It depends on each one of us and our faith in God and his word. I suppose, that if you’ve put God and His Law in the back burner, and only bring Him to remembrance when you need Him and His divine healing, chances are good that He may ignore your prayers and pleas.
This is what the bible says:
Proverbs 28:9 – One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
Anyone who’s deliberately turned their ear from hearing (obeying) the Law, is practicing lawlessness.
God’s word is pretty adamant about those whom God’s promises of healing, blessings, eternal life, etc, apply to, and it is to those who’ve embraced Him and His Commandments- His Will! To those who worship Him the way He requires us to Love and Worship Him.
But, having said all of that, remember, God is merciful! And can heal whomever He chooses regardless of any prior circumstances.
You may say, “I’ve embraced God and keep His Commandments to the best of my abilities. How can God heal me?”
Good question! This is what the bible says about healing the sick in the following healing verses:
James 5:14 – Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord (Yahshua).
James 5:15 – And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
So, when you’re sick, follow the steps of these healing scriptures in the bible:
→ Call for the Elders of the Church
→ Let them place their hands on your head and pray over you
→ Their prayer of faith (along with your faith) should save and heal you
→ Let them anoint you with oil in the Name of the Lord (Yahshua)
How many people that you know of do that? I can’t think of any!
The last question left is this, Why does God heal some and not others?
I presume that none of us really know the answer to that. But, if you aren’t a true follower of God and His ways, I suppose that would be your answer.
But, what if someone you loved, fully embraced God and His instructions, and followed the healing verses in James, and they weren’t healed… and then happened to die due to their sickness, what then?
First of all, we know God can’t lie (Titus 1:2). But, just as surely as he says we can be healed through the Church, as described above, he also says in another place, that all men must die once:
Hebrew 9:27 – And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment…
It is obvious from this verse, that He can’t always heal us of our infirmities- otherwise, no one would ever die. We have to have faith in God and His timing. And know, that regardless of the appearance, and whatever happens, He always has our very best interest in mind.
If we stand with Him steadfastly to the very end, no matter what happens to us now, then come resurrection morning, we won’t ever have to worry about getting sick or ever dying again. We shall all live and be blessed with everlasting life, and forever more, be with our Lord and Savior.
